The Host City

Torino is an ancient city, which was Italy’s first capital, and is now a great industrial district.

Each moment in history has left its mark on the city, creating a legacy of culture, architecture and monuments.

The Conference Venue

The conference will be held in the Valentino Castle of the Politecnico di Torino.

In the 1500s it was a riverside residence located out of town, and its period of maximum splendour was under Christine of France, the first regent in the Savoy State, who chose it to be the palace of entertainment, extending it according to French tastes and promoting the rich decoration of the rooms on the piano nobile.

After many subsequent expansion and restoration works, the Castle began to be used as university seat, place where research and specific studies can be carried out. It also represented a center of scientific and technological experimentations which led to the best choices for the safeguard and preservation of cultural heritage. Now, it is venue of the School of Architecture of the Politecnico di Torino.
